About Us

United Christians of Florida - Political Action Committee

is not a church, but a political action committee that endeavors to serve all Christians, regardless of denominational status or church affiliation. The Statement of Faith is designed not be an exhaustive theological treatise, but simply an affirmation of the essential doctrines that most Christians have ascribed to throughout the history of the Church.

Statement of Faith

The Bible. We believe the sixty-six canonical books of the Bible are the inspired and infallible Word of
God. These Scriptures are the supreme and final authority of the Christian faith. They serve as the exclusive standard for our faith and behavior. We receive God’s word as a blessed gift of His grace that is designed to reveal God’s personhood, His providential workings in history, His ethical requirements nurturing a covenant relationship with Him and for guiding all our social interactions with others and His glorious plan of personal redemption though the life and gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Triune God. We believe in the scriptural disclosure of the creator God who is absolutely infinite, loving, sovereign, immutable, transcendent, omnipresent, omniscient, holy, merciful, and just. We accept His inspired revelation that He is one divine spirit who eternally manifests Himself in three persons as the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. The orthodox position of the Trinity can be summarized in three statements: God is three persons; each person is fully God and there is one God.  The revelation of the Trinity is of profound practical importance in that it affirms coherence between unity and diversity instead of a division between the two. The revelation of the Trinity provides a framework for simultaneously emphasizing both the significant roles of many individuals and that of unified groupings such as the family, church and
state.

Jesus Christ.  We believe that Jesus Christ through His miraculous incarnation is the manifestation of the eternal Word of God who became man while maintaining His essential divinity. That He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, led a sinless life, revealed the Father and as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, died for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day, thus enacting the New Covenant and is presently seated at the right hand of the Father in glory as the triumphant Lord of Lords over all men and nations and is the great High Priest of His covenant people.

Humanity. We believe that God directly created Adam and Eve, the historical parents of the human race; that they were created in His own image and likeness, distinct from all other living creatures, in an original state of righteousness. They succumbed to the temptation by Satan and sinned by rebelling against God’s revealed will and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death which has been passed on to all humans in the form of a sinful nature. Yet, we believe that all humans,
albeit fallen, continue to possess inherent value as special creations of God made in His image and thereby should be treated with dignity and love. We oppose any view of humanity that denies its universal intrinsic worth or discriminates in terms of race or ethnicity.

Spiritual warfare. We believe in the existence of Satan, sin and the spiritual forces of evil that militate against the pursuit of goodness and personal spiritual maturity. We recognize the importance of employing the spiritual resources of God’s Word, prayer, and the revelation of the cross of Jesus Christ in restraining and defeating these spiritual adversaries. We engage this spiritual conflict daily, but are strengthened by the truth that the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ has ultimately crushed these forces enabling us to be more than conquerors through Him.

Salvation. We believe that the good news of salvation from eternal death and reconciliation to a personal fellowship with God is to be extended to all human beings who are promised eternal life if they would sincerely acknowledge their separation from God due to their sins and put their faith in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ who actually bore their sins at the cross of Calvary. We believe that the promise of salvation is a gift of God’s grace, not based on any works of man, because it is solely based on the mediatory work of Christ. The genius of God’s plan of salvation is that both the terms of His divine justice which demands the penalty of death for sin and that of His divine love which seeks the highest good for all humans are perfectly consummated in the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ. The attestation of the sufficiency of His sacrifice is the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead on the third day followed by His glorious ascension into heaven which was witnessed to by His disciples.

Eschatology. We believe that at some unknown time in the future that Jesus Christ will come again for His covenant people. Until that time, the Church in every generation is responsible to fulfill its mandate to evangelize the world and disciple the nations in terms of God’s revelation. Finally, there will be a bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, which will ensue in either to a judgment leading to an everlasting punishment for those who reject the gospel of salvation or to a judgment seat of Christ that will result in meritorious rewards to accompany the everlasting blessedness of the saved.

The Vision

Ours is a "bottom-up" verses a "top-down" approach to political organization (which is the model of
every other organization). We want to see Christians loving and serving their neighbors through our two century old political process by taking responsibility for the identification, education, and counsel of the “neighbors” in their precinct. A major goal is to impact the results of elections, yet, the end result will be multiple lives touched with the love of Christ
(inviting a new neighbor to church, sharing the number of a crisis help line, bringing baby clothes to a single mother, arranging for meals on wheels, having some spontaneous prayer, sharing some spiritual reading materials, etc.)  UCF volunteers will be educated on:

 - Government and political processes

 - Polling neighbors to determine their spiritual, philosophical and political ideology

 - Selectively registering “like-minded” neighbors

 - Selectively educating potential “swing voters”

 - Candidate education (primarily by use of “slate of recommended candidates”)

 - Selective voter turn-out, previous to/on election days

 - Again, candidate recommendations (by “slate” handouts at the polls)

 - Actively praying for neighbors and facilitating the matching of ministry(s) with personal needs

 - Volunteer recruitment and financial support development

Leadership is required to fund-raise, do organization building, candidate recruitment, candidate interviews, endorsements, direct financial contributions and ongoing lobbying efforts with elected officials.

In Public Policy

We Believe that the Holy Bible possesses sufficient
answers to all necessary questions of the role of government and the expected
behaviors of mankind.

We Believe in holy Christian living we must have a
concern for the hurts and social needs of our fellow citizens with equality
across racial, gender, and class differences.

We Believe in using all means of communication to spread
the Gospel of Jesus Christ along with our efforts to communicate support or
opposition to issues and matters of public policy.

Code of Ethics

We Believe the Ten Commandments to be the fundamental foundation from which all behaviors toward
one another are based.

We Believe that we must conduct our personal lives, business affairs and political activities in a manner that would not bring shame or reproach to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We Believe that we must speak the truth in love.

We Believe we must dedicate ourselves anew to the service of our Lord and to His authority over our lives.

We Believe that it is important to speak out on behalf of Christians, filtered through the teachings Holy Scripture, while never claiming to speak, "for God."

We Believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We Believe that the Holy Bible possesses sufficient answers to all necessary questions of the role of government and the expected behaviors of mankind.

We Believe in holy Christian living we must have a concern for the hurts and social needs of our fellow citizens with equality across racial, gender, and class differences.

We Believe in using all means of communication to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ along with our efforts to communicate support or opposition to issues and matters of public policy.

DUTY TO GOD - God is our creator, and we ought to adore him.  He made laws and we ought to obey them.  He loves us and forgives our sins, and we ought to love Him.  He is always near us and ready to listen to us, and we ought to pray to Him for help, guidance and protection.  We must have no other Gods before Him.

TRUTH - Truth is sincerity; in all we say and do we must be sincere.  We must not make false impressions directly or indirectly.  We must not bear false witness against our neighbors.

HONESTY - It is wrong to take the property of others without consent, or to get any advantage of them by deception or
concealment or any false contrivance. We must not steal.

FIDELITY - We must not neglect or slight the duties we owe to ourselves or others; but we must do them earnestly and
carefully.  This is faithfulness of fidelity.

JUSTICE - Justice requires that every person should enjoy all the privileges and rights that are his due; and we must
not do wrong to any one, especially to the weak and defenseless; nor should we encourage wrong-doing by others.

POLITENESS - In meeting with people, be they friends or foes, we should be cordial and treat them kindly.

PROFANITY - In common conversation and in anger we hear vulgarity and the name of God used irreverently.  This is the rambling of ignorance and is unacceptable.  We must not use the Lord's name in vain.

SELF-DISCIPLINE - We should obey the conscience by strictly and faithfully doing what is right, with a determination not to do what is wrong.

PERSERVERANCE - Never give up, be consistent, and expect your actions will bring results.

TREATMENT OF ADVERSARIES - If we have adversaries, we ought not to do them evil; but so far as it is in our power to
do them good.  If we can not do them good, we must bear enmity with a patient and forgiving spirit.

FORGIVENESS - When we have been personally injured by another, it is healthy to communicate the incident with the offender and then be resolved to treat them as though they have done nothing wrong.

REPENTANCE - All people fall into temptations and do wrong.  We should always be sorry for our sins, acknowledge them and resolve to do them no more.
